Rules

1. Each pair may play each other pair no more than once before 10th January
2. Handicaps will be reviewed at end of the first half.
3. Once the reviewed handicaps have been published then each pair may then play each other pair again (or for the first time) before the end of March.
4. Matches will be two sets with a Championship tie break (to 10 points) in the event that the match is tied. Sets will be decided by a tie break (to 7 points) at 6 games all.
5. The winner of each match will get 15 points with the losers’ score being the number of games they win. Scores will continue to accumulate from now through to the end of March.
6. Please email the score of all completed matches to Results@langfordtennisclub.org.uk
7. Late entries will be accepted and will be able to compete as soon a handicap has been allocated.
8. If both handicaps are positive or both are negative then they should be reduced or increased by the same number of points so that one pair starts on scratch. For example, Aiden and Adam vs Jeff and Nikki would start each game on -30, 0. If in doubt ask Paul Jaggard or Andrew Fox. If both pairs have the same handicap both start at love all.
9. Tie Breaks should be operated as follows

Count the handicap system as multiples of 15 so someone with a handicap of -30 would have a handicap of -2. You should adjust the start point so that one couple starts on zero

Tie break to decide a 6 all set. Tie break to 7 (2 clear points) use the relative handicaps for each pair

Tie break at one set all, Championship Tie break to 10 (2 clear points) use double the relative handicaps for each pair

so if the handicaps are -30 and 0 start a normal tie break at -2,0 and a championship one at -4,0. If the handicaps were -30 and +15 then start a normal tie break at -3,0 and a championship one at -6,0

If the difference in points at the start is even then start serving on the right and just take one serve as normal but if the difference is odd then start serving on the left and take two serves. Due to the handicap doubling championship tie breaks will always start on the right
